Support your mental health
Exercise of any sort is great for your mental health. You don’t have to be smashing records or beating your personal best every month. Aerobic exercise has been proven to help with anxiety and depression. Get those endorphins flowing and clear your head by moving your body!
But this on its own isn’t a very measurable goal. We believe you’ll see the benefits of regular exercise if you build it into your daily life. Laying the groundwork for improved mental health in 2023 will help you build a solid base for when things are tough, and having an existing exercise routine will help when you lack motivation.
Build a routine
The best way to build a habit is by attaching a new habit to an existing one. If you want to build exercise into your daily routine, a good way to start is pairing it with something you already — non-negotiably — do. For example, in 2022, every day, you got out of bed, brushed your teeth, and got on with your day. In 2023, why not integrate a quick workout with asensei? You get out of bed, brush your teeth, and hop on your WaterRower or Concept2 for a 20 minute session with one of our coaches. Or maybe you’re a night owl and would prefer to combine your exercise with winding down for the night, or fit it into your lunch break? Whatever way, having a steady regular activity can help you feel a stronger sense of routine and structure in your daily life, as well as reaping the many other benefits of exercise.
Coaches are expensive. Trying to book a session with a coach around both your schedules can be tricky. And that’s if you can find a good coach in your local area! With asensei you’re not limited by time or geography, and the financial saving is huge. Benefit from Olympic wisdom, and coaching at the highest level, wherever you are in the world, and save some money while you’re at it.
So now you've decided what your goals are, how can you go about achieving them? Working out your barriers to success will help you. If you’re feeling unmotivated, try to discover the root cause. Motivation tends to come in waves, and is very subject to your environment and circumstances. If you can identify why you’re unmotivated, and take steps to change the factors causing it, you will already be on track to achieving your goals. If you’re tight on time and the feeling of being busy is putting you off, maybe you could look at asensei’s shorter workouts? HIIT workouts tend to be quicker and mean you get lots of bang for your buck in terms of time. And if you’re worried about aggravating an old or recent injury, rowing is great for rehab and recovery!
